寂静之声（The Sound Of Silence）在1967年作为美国电影《毕业生》的主题歌，是20世纪60年代民歌二人组Pau lSimon and Garfunkel的成名作。出自1968年奥斯卡特级经典电影，影帝达斯汀·霍夫曼主演的《毕业生》，是60、70年代美国年轻人最喜爱看的电影之一。
Simon与Garfunkel完美的二重唱，以忧伤而低缓的旋律，唱出了美国六十年代“垮掉一代”的迷惘与反叛。
达斯汀·霍夫曼凭借此片一举成名，以非凡的演技，将一个即将迈入社会的大学毕业生的迷茫演绎地淋漓尽致。
歌曲如果说是属于民谣的话似乎太深邃，如果说随着强劲的乐曲而震荡的节奏是摇滚的话，却太细腻，音乐上它造就了类的中和体，这应该是它成功的最大原因。西蒙和加芬克尔可以说是流行音乐史上的最佳重唱，西蒙的嗓音松弛自然，加芬克尔音色轻柔高洁，他们的演唱配合得天衣无缝，两人的和声如诗如梦一般丰富多彩，令人魂牵梦绕。
在现今科技发达网络畅行无阻的年代，西蒙的这首歌格外具有其划时代的意义，西蒙的歌声似乎在告诉我们：“茫茫人海里，人群跟着人群，我们无时无刻不感到孤寂。停下来让我们好好沟通吧，否则人类的关系将日形恶化，沦为新世纪科技的牺牲品。”
